Sene West (district)
Sene West District is one of the eleven districts in Bono East Region, Ghana. It was carved out of the former Sene District in 2012. The capital of Sene West is Kwame Danso.
Geography:
Sene West District shares boundaries with the Pru East District to the north, the Kwahu Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region to the east, the Sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region to the south, and the Sene East District to the west.
Administration:
The district is administered by a District Chief Executive (DCE) who is nominated by the President of Ghana and approved by the members of the District Assembly. The District Assembly is the legislative body of the district.
Economy:
Agriculture is the dominant economic activity in the Sene West District. Major crops cultivated include maize, yam, cassava, and groundnuts. Fishing is also a significant economic activity, due to the presence of the Volta Lake.
Demographics:
The population of the Sene West District is predominantly rural. The main ethnic group is the Akan.
