Seance (band)

Seance is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1990 in Linköping. The band is known for their technical and brutal style of death metal.

History

Seance was originally formed under the name "Torment" in 1990 by Tony Kampner (vocals/guitar), Johan Larsson (guitar), Bino Carlsson (bass), and Peter Bjärgö (drums). They quickly changed their name to Seance and released several demos which garnered attention in the underground metal scene.

In 1992, Seance signed with Black Mark Production and released their debut album, Fornever Laid to Rest. The album showcased their technical prowess and dark, intense atmosphere.

They followed up with Saltrubbed Eyes in 1993, further solidifying their reputation within the death metal community. The album continued the band's exploration of complex song structures and brutal riffs.

In 1995, Seance released The Blessing of Death. This album saw the band experimenting with more melodic elements while retaining their core death metal sound.

Following The Blessing of Death, Seance disbanded.

The band reformed in 2007 and subsequently released Awakening of the Gods in 2009 on Pulverised Records.

In 2022, Seance released their latest album, Verse of Grief, on Transcending Obscurity Records. This album showcased a return to their more brutal and technical roots, marking a resurgence for the band.
