Kevin Andrews (politician)
Kevin Andrews (born 7 November 1955) is an Australian politician who served as a Liberal Member of Parliament representing the Division of Menzies in Victoria from 1991 to 2022.
Andrews held several ministerial portfolios in the Howard, Abbott, and Turnbull governments. He served as Minister for Ageing (2001-2003), Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations (2003-2007), Minister for Immigration and Citizenship (2007), Minister for Social Services (2014-2015), and Minister for Defence (2015).
Prior to entering parliament, Andrews practiced as a barrister. He is known for his socially conservative views and has been a vocal advocate on issues such as same-sex marriage and stem cell research. He holds degrees in Arts, Law and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne.
Throughout his parliamentary career, Andrews served on various committees and contributed to numerous debates on a wide range of policy issues. He was a prominent figure within the Liberal Party and played a significant role in shaping government policy during his time in office. After losing his seat in the 2022 federal election, his parliamentary career concluded.
