Kenneth Mackenzie (bishop of Argyll and The Isles)

Kenneth Mackenzie (died 1576) was a Scottish clergyman who served as the Bishop of Argyll and The Isles. He was the son of John Mackenzie, 9th of Kintail, and Elizabeth Grant. He was appointed Bishop in 1547, succeeding James Hamilton. Mackenzie was a significant figure in the religious landscape of the Scottish Highlands during a turbulent period marked by the Scottish Reformation. His episcopate witnessed considerable upheaval as Presbyterianism gained ground, challenging the authority of the traditional episcopal structure. Details of his actions and stances on key religious issues during his tenure are somewhat limited in extant historical records. He died in 1576 and was succeeded by John Carswell.
