Interstate 240 (Oklahoma)
Interstate 240 (I-240) is a 20.7-mile (33.3 km) Interstate Highway that forms a partial beltway around Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Often referred to as the "south loop" or "环线 (huán xiàn)" by locals, it runs along the southern portion of the city.
The highway begins at its western terminus with Interstate 44 (I-44) on the southwest side of Oklahoma City and travels generally east. It intersects with I-35 on the southeast side of the city and continues eastward before curving northward to rejoin I-40 on the east side of Oklahoma City.
I-240 provides access to several key areas of Oklahoma City, including Will Rogers World Airport, Tinker Air Force Base, and various residential and commercial districts. It serves as a vital transportation corridor for both local traffic and long-distance travelers bypassing the downtown area.
The speed limit on I-240 is generally 65 mph (105 km/h), although this may vary in certain sections due to construction or traffic conditions. The highway is typically well-maintained and experiences significant traffic volume during peak hours.
