Joe McCabe (baseball)

Joseph Francis "Joe" McCabe (born January 23, 1916, in Providence, Rhode Island; died April 18, 2003, in Warwick, Rhode Island) was a professional baseball player. He was a catcher who played briefly in Major League Baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1943.

McCabe's major league career consisted of a single game played on July 11, 1943, against the Detroit Tigers. He went 0-for-1 at the plate.

Prior to and after his brief MLB stint, McCabe primarily played in the minor leagues, including for teams like the Providence Chiefs. He served in the military during World War II, likely contributing to the limited extent of his professional baseball career. Following his baseball career, he worked as a machinist.
