Total Control (band)

Total Control is an Australian post-punk band formed in Melbourne in 2008. The band's sound is characterized by its angular, minimalist instrumentation, Ian Lowery-esque vocals (often delivered with sardonic detachment), and a bleak, often dystopian lyrical perspective.

The core members are Daniel Stewart (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Mikey Young (guitar, keyboards, production), and Al Montfort (guitar). Other members have included Zephyr Phelan (bass) and James Vinciguerra (drums).

Total Control's music incorporates elements of punk, new wave, and electronic music, creating a distinctive and often abrasive sound. They are known for their DIY ethos and their deliberate eschewing of conventional rock band aesthetics.

The band has released several EPs, singles, and studio albums, including "Henge Beat" (2011), "Typical System" (2014), and "Laughing at the System" (2023). Their music has been critically acclaimed for its originality and its sharp commentary on contemporary society. They have toured extensively both in Australia and internationally.
