The Jungle Book (1967 film)

The Jungle Book is a 1967 American animated musical comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions. Loosely based on Rudyard Kipling's 1894 book of the same name, it is the 19th animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon.

Released on October 18, 1967, The Jungle Book tells the story of Mowgli, a human "man-cub" raised in the Indian jungle by wolves. As the fearsome tiger Shere Khan threatens Mowgli's life, Bagheera, a black panther, undertakes the task of guiding Mowgli to the man-village for his safety.

Along the way, Mowgli encounters a colorful cast of characters, including Baloo, a carefree bear who teaches him the "Bare Necessities" of life; King Louie, an orangutan who desires to learn the secret of fire; and Kaa, a hypnotic python. He also faces dangers and challenges as he navigates the jungle environment.

The Jungle Book was the last film to be personally supervised by Walt Disney, as he died during its production. The film was a critical and commercial success upon its release and has remained a beloved classic, known for its memorable characters, catchy songs, and vibrant animation. It was re-released theatrically several times and has been released on various home video formats. The film spawned numerous adaptations, including a 2016 live-action/CGI film directed by Jon Favreau.
