The Platform (TV series)

The Platform, also known as El Hoyo (The Hole) in Spanish, is a Spanish science fiction horror thriller television series that serves as a sequel to the 2019 film of the same name. It is set in a dystopian vertical prison, often referred to as "The Hole," where inmates are fed via a platform that descends through the levels carrying food. Those on the upper levels can eat as much as they want, leaving little or nothing for those below.

The series explores themes of social inequality, class struggle, selfishness, and the failure of both altruism and revolution within a system designed to perpetuate disparity. Each inmate is randomly assigned a level each month, forcing them to adapt to drastically different circumstances. The story follows various characters and their attempts to navigate the brutal realities of The Hole and, potentially, escape or change the system. The series expands upon the world presented in the film, delving deeper into the logistics and societal structures of the prison.
