Kazuo Abe

Kazuo Abe (阿部 和雄, Abe Kazuo; born 1940) is a Japanese linguist specializing in English linguistics, particularly phonetics and phonology. He is Professor Emeritus at Tohoku University, where he spent a significant portion of his academic career. Abe's research interests encompass the acoustic and articulatory properties of English speech sounds, and he has contributed to the understanding of English pronunciation among Japanese speakers. He is also known for his work on the teaching of English pronunciation in Japan. Abe has published extensively in both Japanese and English, and his works are considered important resources for students and scholars of English linguistics in Japan.
