Renaud (Desmarets)

Renaud Desmarets (1682 – 1744) was a French prelate and theologian. He served as the Bishop of Toul from 1716 until his death. Desmarets was a Doctor of Theology and a member of the French Academy. He was known for his sermons and theological writings, contributing to the religious discourse of his time. His episcopate at Toul was marked by administrative efforts and involvement in the Jansenist controversies that characterized the period. He was elected to the Académie française in 1736.
