Moshe Ron

Moshe Ron (1925-2018) was an Israeli literary scholar, translator, and professor emeritus of Comparative Literature at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was known for his work in narratology, semiotics, and the theory of translation, particularly in relation to modern Hebrew literature. Ron made significant contributions to the understanding of narrative structure and the ways in which stories convey meaning. He also published extensively on the relationship between literature and philosophy. His translations from English and French into Hebrew helped introduce key works of modern thought to an Israeli audience. Key areas of his research included the nature of point of view in narrative, the complexities of free indirect discourse, and the interplay between authorial intention and reader interpretation.
