2001 Welsh Open (snooker)

The 2001 Welsh Open was a professional ranking snooker tournament that took place from January 24 to January 28, 2001, at the Cardiff International Arena in Cardiff, Wales.

The tournament was the ninth ranking event of the 2000/2001 snooker season. Ronnie O'Sullivan won the tournament, defeating John Higgins 9–2 in the final. The defending champion was John Higgins, but he was unable to retain his title.

The tournament featured a 32-player main draw, with the top 16 players in the world rankings automatically seeded into the event. Qualifying rounds were held prior to the main draw to determine the remaining participants.

Prize money was awarded to players based on their performance in the tournament, with the winner receiving the largest share.
