Government House (Saskatchewan)

Government House, located in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, is the former official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. Constructed between 1889 and 1891, it served as the residence and office of the Lieutenant Governor until 1945.

After 1945, the building had various uses, including a veterans' home, a training facility for the Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences, and a center for the Canadian Bible College. By the late 1970s, the building had fallen into disrepair and was threatened with demolition.

Extensive restoration efforts began in the late 1970s, and Government House was officially reopened to the public in 1980. Today, it serves as a museum, provincial heritage property, and a venue for official events. Visitors can tour the house and learn about its history and significance in Saskatchewan's political and social development. Exhibits showcase the lives of the Lieutenant Governors and their families, as well as the history of the building itself. The grounds are also meticulously maintained and provide a beautiful setting for events and gatherings. Government House continues to be an important symbol of Saskatchewan's heritage and governance.
