Novoaidar

Novoaidar (Ukrainian: Новоайдар, Russian: Новоайдар) is an urban-type settlement in Shchastia Raion, Luhansk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It serves as the administrative center of the Novoaidar Raion. Situated on the Aidar River, a tributary of the Donets, it's located approximately 60 kilometers northwest of Luhansk, the oblast's capital.

The settlement's history dates back to the 17th century when Cossacks established a winter settlement in the area. It officially became an urban-type settlement in 1957.

Novoaidar's economy is primarily agricultural, with some light industry. The surrounding region is known for its fertile land.

The population of Novoaidar has fluctuated over time. As of 2021, the estimated population was around 12,589.

Following the start of the war in Donbas in 2014, Novoaidar remained under Ukrainian government control. It has experienced periods of instability and military activity due to its proximity to the conflict zone.
