WASP-84

WASP-84 is a G-type main-sequence star located approximately 391 light-years away in the constellation Sextans. The star is slightly smaller and less massive than the Sun. Its estimated age is around 4.4 billion years.

WASP-84 is notable for hosting a hot Jupiter exoplanet, WASP-84 b, discovered through the Wide Angle Search for Planets (WASP) project. The discovery was announced in 2013. The exoplanet orbits the star very closely, with a period of just over 8.5 hours.

Because of the extreme proximity of WASP-84 b to its host star, it is subjected to intense stellar radiation and high temperatures, characteristic of hot Jupiters. Studies have focused on characterizing the planet's atmosphere and refining its orbital parameters.
