Burke gained widespread fame for his eloquent and passionate sermons and lectures. His sermons were known for their theological depth, historical understanding, and powerful delivery, often drawing large crowds. He preached extensively throughout Ireland, England, and the United States, addressing a wide range of topics including Catholic doctrine, Irish history, and social issues.
His American tour, which began in 1872, was particularly successful. He lectured to large audiences in major cities and became a popular figure in the Irish-American community. His lectures often focused on defending the Catholic faith against anti-Catholic prejudice and promoting Irish identity.

He returned to Ireland in 1874 and continued his preaching and lecturing ministry until his death in 1883 in Tallaght, near Dublin. Father Tom Burke's oratory skills and dedication to the Catholic Church and Irish community cemented his legacy as one of the most celebrated preachers of his era. His collected sermons and lectures were published posthumously and remain a source of inspiration for many.
