Kalimpong
Kalimpong is a hill station and a municipality located in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is situated at an average elevation of 1,250 meters (4,101 ft) in the Himalayan foothills.
History: Kalimpong's history is intertwined with that of its neighbouring regions, particularly Sikkim and Bhutan. Before British India, it was part of the Kingdom of Sikkim, and later came under Bhutanese influence. It was annexed by British India following the Anglo-Bhutan War in 1864. The town rapidly developed as a trading post and a transportation hub due to its strategic location on the trade route between Tibet and India. Scottish missionaries played a significant role in establishing educational institutions and promoting socio-economic development in the region.
