Jake Hansen (American football)

Jake Hansen (born March 19, 1998) is an American football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He played college football at the University of Illinois.

Early Life and High School

Hansen attended East Lake High School in Tarpon Springs, Florida. He was a two-way player, excelling as a linebacker and a running back.

College Career

Hansen played for the Illinois Fighting Illini from 2016 to 2020. He was a key contributor to the defense throughout his career, known for his aggressive tackling and ball-hawking abilities. He accumulated significant statistics, including tackles for loss, interceptions, and forced fumbles. He earned All-Big Ten honors during his time at Illinois.

Professional Career

Hansen signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2021. He was waived by the Texans prior to the start of the regular season. He then signed with the practice squad of the Tennessee Titans in 2021, and was later elevated to the active roster. He was waived and re-signed to the practice squad multiple times. He signed with the Houston Texans practice squad in 2022 but was later released.
