Heavy Crown (album)

Heavy Crown is a collaborative studio album by American hip hop artists Iggy Azalea and Dej Loaf, initially intended as a joint release under their respective labels, Def Jam Recordings and Columbia Records. The album was ultimately released as Iggy Azalea's debut extended play (EP) on November 21, 2014.

The project was conceived following the success of Dej Loaf's "Try Me" and Azalea's chart-topping hits, with both artists expressing mutual respect and admiration for each other's work. The intention was to create a body of work that blended their distinctive styles – Azalea's aggressive, fast-paced rapping and Loaf's melodic, introspective delivery.

The Heavy Crown EP features six tracks, including the lead single "Beg for It" featuring Mø, which achieved considerable commercial success. Other notable tracks on the EP showcase the collaborative effort between Azalea and various producers. While Dej Loaf's involvement remained limited to certain tracks after the shift to an EP release under Azalea's name, the project retains its conceptual origins as a collaborative venture. The EP was promoted through live performances and music videos. It received mixed reviews, with critics praising some tracks for their energy and production while criticizing others for lacking originality.
