Ministry of Defense (Argentina)

The Ministry of Defense (Spanish: Ministerio de Defensa) of Argentina is a cabinet-level government ministry responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the national defense and the Argentine Armed Forces. The Ministry's core functions include formulating, implementing, and controlling the defense policy of the nation; managing the personnel, budget, and infrastructure of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, and Air Force); and representing Argentina in international defense forums.

The Ministry is headed by the Minister of Defense, a political appointee selected by the President of Argentina. The Minister oversees the day-to-day operations of the Ministry and reports directly to the President. Key departments within the Ministry include those responsible for policy and strategy, military planning, logistics, education, and technology.

The Ministry of Defense works to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Argentina, as well as to contribute to regional and international peace and security. It plays a key role in coordinating national responses to natural disasters and other emergencies, and in supporting scientific research and technological development related to defense. The Ministry also works to promote civil-military relations and to ensure democratic control of the Armed Forces.
