Isipingo
Isipingo is a coastal town located south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It is situated near the mouth of the Isipingo River, from which it derives its name (believed to mean "place of the reeds" in the Zulu language).
Historically, Isipingo was a significant port before the development of Durban harbour. It served as an important trading hub, particularly for sugarcane production in the surrounding areas.
Today, Isipingo is a diverse residential and industrial area. It's characterized by a mix of housing types, including older colonial-era buildings and more modern developments. The town has a significant Indian population, a legacy of the indentured labourers brought to South Africa to work on the sugarcane plantations in the 19th century.
