Hidimba
In Hindu mythology, Hidimba (also known as Hirimba or Irimba) was a Rakshasa (demon) featured in the epic Mahabharata. He was the brother of Hidimbi, and both were residents of the forest.
Hidimba was known for his strength and cannibalistic tendencies. He terrorized travelers passing through the forest, killing and devouring them. His sister, Hidimbi, was tasked with luring the Pandavas, who were in exile, into his grasp. However, Hidimbi fell in love with Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, and warned them of her brother's intentions.
A fierce battle ensued between Bhima and Hidimba. Bhima ultimately killed Hidimba, thus freeing the area from his terror. Following Hidimba's death, Hidimbi married Bhima and gave birth to Ghatotkacha, a powerful warrior who played a significant role in the Kurukshetra War.
Hidimba is often portrayed as a powerful and fearsome demon, representing the challenges and dangers faced by the heroes in their journey.
