Aso Dam
The Aso Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the Kuma River in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. Its primary purpose is flood control, but it also provides irrigation and municipal water supply to the surrounding areas. Construction of the dam was completed in 1986. The dam creates a reservoir called Lake Midori. The Aso Dam contributes to the regulation of water flow in the Kuma River, mitigating downstream flood risks, particularly during the rainy season and typhoon season. It is managed and operated by the Japanese government.
