Hero (Maren Morris album)

Hero is the debut studio album by American country pop singer Maren Morris, released on June 3, 2016, through Columbia Nashville. The album spawned four singles: "My Church," "80s Mercedes," "Rich," and "I Could Use a Love Song."

Prior to the album's release, Morris released a five-song extended play (EP) of the same name in 2015. Several songs from the EP were included on the Hero album. The album's title reflects Morris's self-acceptance and empowerment after facing criticism for her genre-bending sound.

Hero received critical acclaim for its blend of country, pop, R&B, and electronic elements, and for Morris's songwriting and vocal performance. The album explores themes of love, heartbreak, faith, and self-discovery. It peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Top Country Albums chart in the United States.

The success of Hero launched Morris into mainstream prominence in the country music scene. She won the Grammy Award for Best Country Solo Performance for "My Church" in 2017. The album has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
