HMAS Bendigo (J187)
HMAS Bendigo (J187) was a Bathurst-class corvette of the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) during World War II. Built by Morts Dock & Engineering Co in Sydney, New South Wales, she was commissioned in 1941.
Bendigo primarily served as an escort vessel, operating in Australian, New Guinean, and Southeast Asian waters. Her duties included convoy escort, anti-submarine patrols, minesweeping, and general patrol work. She participated in numerous operations, including the defense of Darwin following the Japanese air raid.
Following the conclusion of World War II, Bendigo continued service in the RAN. She was involved in post-war minesweeping operations and other peacetime duties. She was decommissioned in 1967.
