Karl Sørmo
Karl Sørmo (born August 20, 1936, died January 25, 2016) was a Norwegian musician, conductor, and music pedagogue. He was primarily known for his work in the field of brass band music, particularly his contributions to the development and performance of brass bands in Norway.
Sørmo played a significant role in establishing a higher standard of musicianship within Norwegian brass bands. He conducted several prominent bands, leading them to successes in national and international competitions.
In addition to his conducting activities, Sørmo was also a respected teacher and adjudicator. He mentored many young musicians and influenced generations of brass band performers and conductors in Norway.
