WAND (TV)

WAND is a television station licensed to Decatur, Illinois, serving the Springfield–Decatur–Champaign television market. It broadcasts on virtual channel 17 and is affiliated with NBC. Its studios are located on South Side Drive in Decatur, and its transmitter is located near Oreana, Illinois.

WAND is owned by Block Communications. The station's history dates back to its sign-on in 1953 as WTVP, originally owned by Illinois Television Corp. It later changed its call letters to WAND in 1961, standing for "Area Near Decatur".

WAND provides local news coverage, syndicated programming, and NBC network shows to viewers in central Illinois. Its news programming includes local newscasts, weather reports, and sports coverage. The station also broadcasts community events and public service announcements.
