Vessels (band)
Vessels are a British post-rock band formed in Leeds, England in 2005. They are known for their instrumental compositions, blending elements of electronica, progressive rock, and classical music. The band's sound is often characterized by its atmospheric textures, dynamic shifts, and intricate arrangements.
The band consists of Peter Wright (guitar, keyboards), Martin Teff (guitar), Tom Evans (bass), and Jamie Callaghan (drums). Vessels initially gained attention within the UK post-rock scene through their live performances and early EPs.
Their debut album, White Fields and Open Devices, was released in 2012, showcasing their expansive soundscapes and complex rhythmic structures. This release was followed by Helioscope in 2015, an album that further explored their electronic influences and incorporated more synthesized textures.
In 2018, Vessels released their third album, The Great Distraction, which represented a significant shift in their sound. While retaining their core post-rock elements, the album incorporated vocals and a greater emphasis on song structure, marking a departure from their purely instrumental work. The Great Distraction featured collaborations with several guest vocalists.
Vessels have toured extensively throughout the UK and Europe, sharing the stage with numerous prominent post-rock and experimental acts. Their live shows are recognized for their intensity and the band's ability to recreate their complex compositions in a live setting.
