USS Moccasin (ID-1322)

USS Moccasin (ID-1322) was a United States Navy patrol vessel during World War I.

Moccasin was originally the civilian motor yacht Moccasin, built in 1917 by the Matthews Boat Company of Port Clinton, Ohio. The Navy acquired her under a free lease from her owner, Dr. H.W. Fenton of Detroit, Michigan, on 8 July 1918 for use as a section patrol craft. She was enrolled in the Naval Coast Defense Reserve as USS Moccasin (ID-1322) on 17 July 1918.

Assigned to the 9th Naval District, Moccasin performed patrol duties on the Great Lakes, operating primarily in the vicinity of Detroit. These patrols were intended to guard against potential sabotage or other threats to vital waterways and industrial infrastructure.

Following the armistice ending World War I, Moccasin was stricken from the Navy List on 3 December 1918 and returned to her owner. Her subsequent history is currently undocumented.
