Abshineh

Abshineh (آبشینه) refers to a type of traditional Iranian raised embroidery. It is characterized by its use of cotton or silk threads to create a three-dimensional, raised effect on fabric. The technique involves padding portions of the design with cotton wool or other filler material before stitching over it with intricate patterns.

Abshineh is often used to decorate items such as prayer rugs, cushion covers, wall hangings, and clothing. Common motifs include floral designs, geometric patterns, and calligraphy, often inspired by Persian literature and Islamic art. The color palettes typically feature vibrant hues, creating a rich and visually appealing effect.
