Joe Nasco

Joe Nasco is a fictional character featured in the Discworld series of fantasy novels by Terry Pratchett. He is primarily known as a gargoyle within the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.

Nasco, along with other gargoyles like Constable Downspout, joined the Watch after Commander Samuel Vimes actively recruited them. Gargoyles possess innate qualities that make them valuable law enforcement officers. They are naturally strong, incredibly durable, and can remain perfectly still and unnoticed for extended periods of time, acting as excellent surveillance.

Joe Nasco, unlike some of his more talkative gargoyle colleagues, is generally depicted as taciturn and observant. He is often stationed in high vantage points, utilizing his keen eyesight to monitor the city and report suspicious activity. His stoicism and dedication to his duty make him a reliable and valued member of the Watch. While not a central character in every Discworld novel featuring the Watch, Nasco is a recurring figure, contributing to the overall atmosphere and effectiveness of the organization.
