Sudan (film)
Sudan is a 1945 American adventure film directed by John Rawlins. It stars Maria Montez, Jon Hall, and Turhan Bey. Set in ancient Egypt, the film tells the story of an Egyptian princess, Naila (Montez), who seeks revenge against the man responsible for her father's death and the theft of her kingdom. She believes this man to be Herua (Hall), a charismatic leader of a nomadic tribe, and plots to assassinate him. However, as she gets to know Herua, she begins to question his guilt and finds herself falling in love with him. The film features elaborate costumes, exotic sets, and action sequences typical of the Technicolor adventure films of the era. It is known for its escapist entertainment value rather than historical accuracy. Supporting cast members include Andy Devine, George Zucco, and Philip Van Zandt.
