Håkan Andersson (motorcyclist)

Håkan Andersson (born 29 June 1945 in Uddevalla, Sweden, died 6 May 2023) was a Swedish professional Grand Prix motocross racer. He is best known for winning the 1973 FIM 250cc Motocross World Championship.

Andersson began his Grand Prix motocross career in 1966 riding a Husqvarna. He achieved notoriety for his smooth riding style and meticulous preparation. After several years of competition, Andersson joined the Yamaha factory racing team. In 1973, he captured the 250cc World Championship aboard a Yamaha, marking a significant victory for the Japanese manufacturer in a European-dominated sport. He continued to race competitively for several more years before retiring from professional motocross.

Following his racing career, Andersson remained involved in the sport, offering coaching and support to aspiring riders. He is remembered as a pioneer of motocross and a highly respected figure within the racing community.
