George Baird (minister)
George Baird (1865-1947) was a Presbyterian minister and professor in Canada. He was a prominent figure in the Presbyterian Church in Canada in the early to mid-20th century.
Baird was born in Woodstock, Ontario. He received his theological training at Knox College, Toronto, and was ordained as a minister in 1892. He served as a parish minister for several years before being appointed Professor of Church History at Knox College in 1910. He held this position until his retirement in 1936.
Baird was known for his scholarship and his commitment to theological education. He wrote extensively on church history and theology, and was a respected teacher. He was also active in the wider Presbyterian Church, serving on various committees and boards. His work contributed significantly to the intellectual life of the Presbyterian Church in Canada during a period of significant change and theological debate. He died in Toronto in 1947.
