Hochwang

Hochwang is a mountain in the Plessur Alps, located in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland. It lies between the valleys of Schanfigg and Churwalden, near the village of Tschiertschen.

Geography:

Hochwang has a summit elevation of 2,533 meters (8,310 feet) above sea level. It is characterized by steep, rocky slopes on its northern side and gentler, grassy slopes on its southern side. The mountain is part of a larger ridge that includes the peaks of Fulhorn and Gürgaletsch.

Geology:

The geology of Hochwang is typical of the Plessur Alps, consisting primarily of sedimentary rocks, including limestone and marl.

Tourism and Recreation:

Hochwang is a popular destination for hiking and ski touring. Several marked hiking trails lead to the summit, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. In winter, the slopes are used for ski touring, although the terrain can be challenging. The nearby Arosa Lenzerheide ski resort also provides access to the area.
