Let It Rock (magazine)
Let It Rock was a British rock music magazine published monthly from January 1972 to May 1975. Founded by Charlie Gillett, it was known for its focus on the roots of rock and roll, including blues, rhythm and blues, and country music.
The magazine distinguished itself from other contemporary music publications by eschewing coverage of progressive rock and heavy metal, instead championing artists and genres often overlooked in the mainstream. Let It Rock provided a platform for writers and enthusiasts to explore the history and evolution of rock music, featuring interviews with legendary musicians, reviews of classic albums, and in-depth articles on various subgenres.
Notable contributors included Dave Laing, Ian Dove, and Clive Richardson. The magazine's influence extended beyond its relatively short lifespan, helping to shape the understanding and appreciation of rock and roll's heritage. Despite its critical acclaim, Let It Rock struggled financially and eventually ceased publication due to low circulation. It is now considered a significant and influential voice in rock music journalism.
