Melissa Perry (judge)

Melissa Perry is a judge currently serving on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. She was appointed to the court by Mayor Muriel Bowser in 2018 and confirmed by the Council of the District of Columbia.

Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Perry had a distinguished career in public service. She served as the General Counsel for the District of Columbia Department of Human Resources and as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General for the District of Columbia. In these roles, she litigated complex legal matters and provided legal advice to District government agencies.

Judge Perry received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University.

Her work on the D.C. Court of Appeals involves hearing and deciding appeals from the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and administrative agencies. She participates in oral arguments, reviews legal briefs, and authors judicial opinions.
