Eisleben
Eisleben is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is primarily known as the birthplace and deathplace of Martin Luther, the key figure in the Protestant Reformation. Because of this, the Luther memorials in Eisleben and Wittenberg are designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Eisleben comprises two towns: Altstadt (Old Town) Eisleben and Neustadt (New Town) Eisleben. Historically, the town was an important center for copper mining.
The town's official name is Lutherstadt Eisleben (Luther City Eisleben).
Major attractions include Luther's Birth House, Luther's Death House, St. Peter's Church (Petrikirche), St. Andrew's Church (Andreaskirche), and the Eisleben Town Hall. The surrounding Mansfeld Land region also offers historical and cultural sites related to mining and Luther's family.
