Robert Byrne (author)
Robert Byrne (April 20, 1930 – April 12, 2013) was an American bridge player and author, best known for his numerous books and articles on bridge. He was a prominent figure in the world of contract bridge, renowned for his expertise in bidding and card play.
Byrne was born in New York City and educated at Yale University, where he graduated in 1951. He served in the United States Army before embarking on his career as a bridge writer and teacher.
He authored over 20 books on bridge, including popular titles such as Standard Bridge Flipper, Byrne's Standard Bridge, and The Complete Book of Bridge. His writing was characterized by its clear explanations of complex concepts, making bridge accessible to players of all skill levels.
