Duryunsan

Duryunsan (두륜산)

Duryunsan is a mountain located in Haenam County, Jeollanam-do Province, South Korea. It is part of the larger Duryunsan Provincial Park, known for its scenic beauty, hiking trails, and historical temples.

The mountain is not particularly high, reaching a summit of approximately 703 meters (2,306 feet) at Gacheulbong Peak. However, its location near the southern coast of the Korean peninsula and the presence of several peaks and valleys contribute to its rugged and picturesque landscape.

Duryunsan is historically significant, being home to Daeheungsa Temple, one of the major Buddhist temples in South Korea. Daeheungsa has played an important role in Korean Buddhism and is a popular destination for both religious pilgrims and tourists. Other cultural sites within the park include Mihwangsa Temple and numerous hermitages.
