HMS Aldborough (1743)
HMS Aldborough was a 20-gun sixth-rate frigate of the Royal Navy, launched in 1743. She was built according to the 1741 Establishment at Deptford Dockyard by Mr. Hayward.
Service History:
Aldborough saw active service in various theaters during her career. Like many vessels of her class, she was employed primarily in patrol duties, convoy escort, and anti-privateering operations. Specific details of her individual actions can be difficult to ascertain, as many smaller vessels like this were involved in numerous minor engagements rather than large, well-documented battles.
Fate:
HMS Aldborough was sold out of the Royal Navy in 1749. The ship's subsequent fate is not reliably documented after its sale from naval service. Vessels sold from the navy often entered the merchant service or were broken up for salvage, though in many cases the final outcome remains unknown.
