Detroit Falcons (basketball)

The Detroit Falcons were a professional basketball team that played for one season in the Basketball Association of America (BAA), the forerunner of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team was based in Detroit, Michigan, and participated in the 1946-47 BAA season.

The Falcons were owned by Arthur Kenzie and coached by Glenn Curtis. They played their home games at the Detroit Olympia. The team struggled throughout the season, finishing with a record of 20 wins and 40 losses, which placed them fourth in the BAA's Western Division. They did not qualify for the playoffs.

Notable players for the Falcons included Bob Calihan, Connie Simmons, and Stan Miasek. Miasek led the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game.

Following the single season, the Falcons folded and did not return for the 1947-48 BAA season. The dissolution of the team contributed to a reduction in teams competing in the BAA's second season. The franchise is not considered to be related to any subsequent Detroit professional basketball teams.
