New Musik

New Musik were a British new wave band formed in 1977. The band was primarily the project of Tony Mansfield, who served as the principal songwriter, vocalist, and producer. New Musik released three studio albums between 1979 and 1981: From A to B, Anywhere, and Warp.

Their music was characterized by its synthesiser-heavy sound, often incorporating elements of science fiction and dystopian themes into their lyrics. While not achieving massive mainstream success, New Musik gained a following for their innovative and experimental approach to pop music. They had several minor hits in the UK, including "Straight Lines" and "Living by Numbers."

Following the release of Warp, Mansfield dissolved New Musik to focus on production work, going on to produce artists such as a-ha, Naked Eyes, and Captain Sensible. Despite their relatively short lifespan, New Musik are considered an influential band in the development of synth-pop and new wave music. Their work has been re-evaluated in subsequent years, with recognition of Mansfield's pioneering production techniques.
