Phil Hare
Phil Hare (born January 21, 1949) is an American politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Illinois's 17th congressional district from 2007 to 2011. He is a member of the Democratic Party.
Hare worked as a regional representative for the United Auto Workers (UAW) for 25 years prior to entering politics. He won a special election in 2007 to succeed Lane Evans, who died in office.
During his time in Congress, Hare served on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Veterans' Affairs Committee. He was known for his advocacy for labor rights, veterans' affairs, and transportation issues.
In 2010, Hare was defeated for reelection by Republican Bobby Schilling. After leaving Congress, Hare returned to the Quad Cities area, where he remained involved in local politics and community activities.
