Charles Collins (Queensland politician)
Charles Collins (1856 – 1936) was an Australian politician who served as a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly.
Collins was born in London, England, and emigrated to Australia in 1883, settling in the Bowen district of Queensland. He worked as a miner and later became involved in local politics, serving as an alderman on the Bowen Town Council.
He was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly for the electoral district of Bowen at the 1904 state election, representing the Labor Party. He held the seat until his retirement at the 1915 state election.
During his time in parliament, Collins was a strong advocate for workers' rights and social reform. He supported legislation aimed at improving working conditions, regulating wages, and providing social welfare benefits. He was also a vocal proponent of land reform and argued for greater access to land for small farmers.
After retiring from politics, Collins remained in Queensland. He died in 1936.
