Bob Simpson (British Columbia politician)
Bob Simpson is a Canadian politician who served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in British Columbia, representing the riding of Cariboo North. He was first elected in the 2005 provincial election as a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP).
Simpson was subsequently expelled from the NDP caucus in 2010 following disagreements with the party leadership over forest policy. Following his expulsion, he sat as an independent MLA.
Prior to entering provincial politics, Simpson served as the mayor of Quesnel, British Columbia. He has been a vocal advocate for forestry and resource-based communities in the province.
Simpson did not seek re-election in the 2017 provincial election. His political career has been marked by a focus on resource management and community development, particularly in the Cariboo region. He has often spoken about the need for sustainable forestry practices and economic diversification in resource-dependent areas.
