Frank Hall (sailor)

Frank Hall was a sailor and Medal of Honor recipient for his actions during the American Civil War. He served as a Landsman in the U.S. Navy.

On April 16, 1864, serving on board the U.S.S. Commodore Jones during the attack on the Confederate defenses of Plymouth, North Carolina, Hall distinguished himself by courage and devotion to duty. He served with the gun's crew, and though severely wounded when an enemy shell struck down several men, he remained steadfast at his post and continued to load and fire the gun during the engagement. His gallantry under fire earned him the Medal of Honor.

Hall's Medal of Honor was awarded on June 22, 1864.

His citation reads: "Served as landsman on board the U.S.S. Commodore Jones during the attack on the defenses of Plymouth, N.C., 16 April 1864. Serving with the gun's crew, Hall, though severely wounded when an enemy shell struck down several men, remained steadfast at his post and continued to load and fire the gun during the engagement."
