Om Parvat

Om Parvat (also spelled as Ohm Parvat) is a mountain located in the Darchula district of Uttarakhand, India, near the border with Tibet. It is revered for a natural formation of the sacred syllable "Om" (ॐ) on its surface. This formation is created by the strategic placement of snow against the dark background of the mountain.

The "Om" shape becomes more prominent during certain times of the year, particularly after snowfall. It is a significant landmark for pilgrims undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, offering a glimpse of spiritual significance before crossing over into Tibet.

The mountain is considered sacred by Hindus and Tibetan Buddhists alike. The appearance of "Om" is seen as a manifestation of the divine and a symbol of auspiciousness. The area surrounding Om Parvat is sparsely populated, adding to the sense of isolation and spiritual contemplation associated with the mountain.

Reaching Om Parvat requires a challenging trek through remote and rugged terrain. The trek typically starts from locations such as Nabidhang or Gunji in Uttarakhand. Due to the sensitive nature of the border area, permits are generally required for visiting the region.
