Dan Johnson (Utah politician)
Dan Johnson (born c. 1955 – December 13, 2017) was an American politician and businessman from Utah. He served as a Republican member of the Utah House of Representatives for District 4 from 2017 until his death.
Johnson was elected in November 2016, defeating Democratic incumbent Carol Spackman Moss. His victory was considered an upset.
Prior to his political career, Johnson was involved in the construction business.
In December 2017, Johnson faced allegations of sexual misconduct towards a woman several years prior. He denied the accusations, which were reported by The Salt Lake Tribune. The allegations led to calls for his resignation from leadership within the Utah Republican Party.
On December 13, 2017, hours after the allegations were published, Johnson died by suicide. The death occurred near a bridge in Bluffdale, Utah.
